Brussels, 4 July 2019 – This evening’s presentation in Brussels marked the start of Tour fever and from tomorrow until Sunday, July 28, the cycling world’s top event of the year will unfold. A total of 22 teams have entered the Grande Boucle and amongst them will be the Trek-Segafredo World Tour team which is making no secret of its ambitions for the final classification at the Champs-Élysées finish-line in Paris.

The Trek-Segafredo team wanted a special jersey for the occasion that marked a departure from the official red and black version. The result is that the jersey the team members will be wearing throughout the French road race will have a white background. Made by Santini, Trek-Segafredo’s official partner since 2018, it will be used only during the Tour de France to symbolise the uniqueness of the event.

“Competing in the Tour de France is always special for any athlete but being part of a team as tightknit as ours makes it even more so,” said Australian cyclist Richie Porte who is in his first year with Trek-Segafredo. “I really loved the Santini racing kits from the get-go and I personally think the Trek-Segafredo jersey is one of the nicest looking kit in the peloton. I really like the white jersey designed especially for the Tour also because July in France can be scorching hot so it’s nice to have this white colour jersey”.

Aside from Richie Porte, other high profile Trek- Segafredo team members competing in the Tour de France include Bauke Mollema, Jasper Stuyven, and Abruzzo native Giulio Ciccone, who will be tackling the French race for the first time in what is always a milestone in any cyclist’s career:

“This will be my first time in the Grande Boucle and there is no denying I’m very excited and anxious to start. But I’m also very curious to see where I’ll finish too,” revealed Italian cyclist Giulio Ciccone, who already hit the headlines this season in the Giro d’Italia. “I’m a rookie so it will be like the first day at school: I’ll have to learn absolutely everything and watch every single detail, but I’m confident I’m on the right team”.

The Trek-Segafredo team kit features a white jersey made from two different fabrics: Bodyfit which is extremely light but tough, and Rudy which is perforated for optimal breathability. The coordinating black shorts have a large area made from Impact, a Sitip fabric incorporating Dyneema® fibres which are 15 times stronger than steel for outstanding abrasion resistance to help protect wearers in the case of a fall.

Replicas of the Trek-Segafredo Tour de France kit will be available from leading cycling stores worldwide and from our website.
