We are delighted to present the new collection of La Vuelta, one of the leading men’s road cycling races on the UCI World Tour. With more than 80 years of tradition, La Vuelta today is close to everyone’s hearts. We share the same values and passion. An exciting event for everyone, not only for pros but for all cyclists who train with passion and challenge themselves. For Santini the partnership with La Vuelta is more than just a race, it represents our continuing contribution for a new chapter in cycling history.
2017 LA VUELTA LEADER JERSEYS
Each of the Vuelta Leader Jerseys were designed to provide maximum performance and comfort for the athletes that will wear them at this years Grand Tour. Our product and design team worked painstakingly, drawing on Santini's 50 years of experience, to produce a garment fit for a Champion.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
-The material used for the back and sleeves is Body Fit, which is extremely light and strong with a weight of 90g per square meter. By using Body Fit we were able to create not only an exceptionally light jersey, but also an aerodynamic fit highlighted by the raw cut elongated sleeves.
-The front of the garment is perforated Rudy fabric that is significantly less elastic than Body Fit, the ‘Rudy’ fabric guarantees breathability while maintaining the cut necessary for the rider. Riding position requires significant elasticity in the back and less in the front to avoid creases that cause drag.
-The cut of the collar is inspired by aerodynamic skinsuit design, the petal form alleviates discomfort caused by the zipper coming in contact with the neck. Elastic silicone grip at the bottom to maintain jersey position.
KILOMETRO CERO LINE
The KILOMETRO CERO jersey is dedicate to Puerta del Sol, one of the most famous squares in Madrid's historic old town. It has a wind rose inlaid into its cobbled surface which marks Kilometre Zero or the starting point for Spain's radial main road network. This also works like a clever reference to the Kilometre Zero concept for line races. The Santini-Designed jersey is mix of dark and light blue, and features a motif comprising a sequence of zero in red and yellow, the colors of the spanish flag.
ANGLIRU LINE
The El Infierno jersey is dedicated to the Angliru climb, one of the toughest in Europe, which has been reintroduced into one of the stages this year. At its steepest, the Asturian climb’s incline easily exceeds 20%, earning it the nickname of “El Infierno”. The Santini jersey is very fittingly in the hellish colours of red and black with the El Infierno moniker emblazoned on the chest where it melds with Angliru name and a repeated fork motif to underscore just how diabolically gruelling the climb is.
VUELTA STAGES LINE
Introducing the 2017 Santini LA VUELTA Stages Line. The Santini x LA VUELTA Stage Line represents a series of apparel designed and created to highlight a number of specifically chosen unique stages included in the 2017 edition of LA VUELTA. The fundamental concept behind each item was to draw on elements, themes, and motifs that promote the history of the race, of cycling, and the geographical areas linked to those specific stages.
STAGES 1-2-3: NIMES
The Salida Oficiàl or Big Start of the 2017 Vuelta will take place in France, in the ancient city of Nîmes. Starting with a team time trial that will ride through the streets of the old city and right through the heart of its historical buildings, the riders will spend two more days in France. The crocodile, famous symbol of Nîmes brought to the city by its early Romans settlers to remember their conquest of Egypt is part of the jersey design.
STAGES 15: GRANADA
The 15th stage jersey is dedicated to Granada. We took inspiration for its design from the rich history of this monumental city, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada. The enchanting hispanic-moorish style of the Alhambra have been declined in the design of the jersey through the blue arabesque of the sleeves.
STAGES 16: RIOJA
Let’s celebrate the 16th stage of Logroño home of the famous Rioja's vineyards with a kit that reproduce the colours and symbols of the Fiesta de la Vendimia Riojana, the Rioja Grape Harvest Festival.
STAGES 20-21: ASTURIAS
Asturias contains the highest and arguably most spectacular mountains of all Spain. Stages 19 and 20 will surely show us some breathtaking battles with their climax on the Angliru. We drew inspiration for the Asturias kit from the well know Asturias flag with its brigt blue and the golden "Cruz de la Victoria " symbol of the Reconquista, re-conquest of the Iberian peninsula from the Moorish domination.
