SANTINI AND CYCLING AUSTRALIA PAVING THE WAY IN AERODYNAMICS
INNOVATORS AND PARTNERS IN AERODYNAMICS RESEARCH
CEO Monica Santini describes the collaboration as mutually beneficial for both the brand and the sport – “The collaboration with Cycling Australia has been a constant source of ideas and testing of new solutions. It has become an incubator of ideas on style and instrumental in the search for new materials, as well as the creation of garments that will suit the athlete and general public alike,” she says.
“Aerodynamics is one of the key features that distinguishes the Santini brand and key to the work that is done with the Australian Cycling Federation in preparation for international competition. Each garment goes through highly detailed product development and thorough testing. A mix of both creativity and innovation, the entire process incorporates the measurement of every single athlete, making every Santini garment highly-customized for individual track discipline, body type and performance.
The track specialties are very different and so is the build of each athlete. For instance, a sprinter will have a stocky build with ‘bulky’ muscles while an endurance rider will likely be lighter with longer, leaner muscles. These various body types respond differently to aerodynamics, thus the need to tailor-fit the garments according to individual disciplines and riders. Santini creates cuts and selects materials based on these differences,” explains Santini.
