Who are you, and what do you do? Tell us a bit about yourself.
That’s a great question, one I’m still trying to answer :-) I’m a 41-year-old active woman fortunate enough to have a job I’m deeply passionate about: I work a little in scientific research and a lot in science communication, a job I nurture every day through constant learning, self-improvement, and sports, as a former rowing athlete. Cycling is my favorite moment to reflect, seek answers to many questions, and at the same time, clear my mind. Sport is not just a lifestyle for me, but a way of being, one that I share with my husband, Ivan Risti, also a former athlete (he in triathlon). Together, we try to instill this passion in our daughters, hoping that sport can become, for them too, an approach to life and even a refuge if they need one.
What is your favourite place to train, and what makes it special for you?
I can’t choose just one place. I have at least three in mind, and they all involve nature and the mountains. The Val Seriana with the Presolana is where I first got on a bike. The gentle slopes of Alta Brianza, all the way to Lake Lecco. And last but not least, the Dolomites, especially Alta Badia. Cycling takes you to new places, helps you meet people, and reconnect with nature. That’s where I feel truly happy and alive, immersed in the beauty that nature offers.
What is your favourite Santini item, and why?
The Groove UCI sweatshirt and the official Santini UCI sweatshirt. These are my favorite garments because, off the bike, they’re like my security blanket. I take them on every trip, wear them with joy, and they give me that feeling of comfort that makes me feel good.
What Santini piece or accessory do you consider essential for winter?
The Alpha base layer tank top. It keeps me warm and breathable at the same time.
What Santini piece or accessory do you consider essential for summer?
The Guard Nimbus: the rain jacket. It has saved me in so many summer situations in the mountains—never without it when the weather is uncertain.
