SANTINI GRAND TOUR LEGENDS - TEAM ADR 1989
1989 TOUR DE FRANCE WINNER GREG LEMOND
Santini’s bond to the world of professional road racing is an indelible fact. Through five decades, in various guises we’ve been trusted with the responsibility of dressing the pro peloton’s greatest champions - our link to all three Grand Tours runs proudly deep.
With each garment our seamstresses prepare we believe they sew together more than just panels of fabric, their craftsmanship binds both us and fans alike to the very sport itself. The same hands that brought to life Chris Froome’s Maillot Rojo in 2017 employ the same skill and care to create team jerseys for club riders all over the world.
The jerseys on display here are not just emblems of our heritage, but cycling’s very own. Each, either an example of a Santini sponsored trade team garment as worn by a grand tour or stage winner; or an iconic, original example of a grand tour leader’s jersey; exclusively, in every instance manufactured in our family-owned factory in Bergamo, Italy.
This year marked the 30th anniversary of Greg LeMond’s historic 1989 TDF victory, beating Laurent Fignon by only 8 seconds. And the iconic fluro-yellow, Team ADR apparel that he wore was produced right here, by us in our factory in Bergamo.
In preparation for the Rouleur Classic LDN 2019, we snapped a shot of one of those original team issue jerseys, kindly held up by our very own head of print production, Beppe Maier, who, all those years ago ran that very jersey through the press!
We were also able to have the man himself Greg LeMond to sign a replica jersey while having a chat with our Managing Director Monica Santini at this year's show.
